Perthes Worry
Last night Charlie complained of leg pain, nothing unusual in a growing 6 year old but he woke up twice in the night crying because it was hurting him. When asked he pointed to his groin area and down his left leg.
I checked him this morning doing the movements that the Drs used to do when examining Jamie, Charlie found them too painful and had virtually no flexibility :(
We saw Dr Fox who referred us onto Yeovil for an x-ray. The radiographer couldn’t see anything obvious but was getting a bigwig to check it and Dr Fox will ring for the results tomrrow.
Hopefully it’ll end up being of no real concern but with our family history its very worrying. If they say they couldn’t see anything on the x-ray I know I’m not going to feel 100% ok with that. Perthes can be hard to spot but also it can be painful before anything actually shows on an x-ray. How will I know if the radiographers have experience of it? Will have to see what tomorrow brings but I think I’ll ask about a second opinion and maybe ring Prof Clarke’s secretary and see if he is able to get an appt at the clinic at SGH.
At least it half term next week so he can rest and not have hard chairs to sit on.
Ohhh also Charlie is going to be in the school nativity play! He’s playing King 1 and has a few lines to learn. I’m so surprised that he’s agreeing to do although I don’t know if he fully understands that there will be lots of people watching!
And on another note, Jamie has decided to leave college. He’s not enjoying his course so he’s planning on working until next Sept where he will (hopefully) start a new course. Hmmm we shall see!
